  • We’ve recently published a report on the Social Worker Workforce Planning data 2016-17. The report aims to support local authorities and Social Care Wales in planning for future workforce needs and to inform the commissioning of social worker training in Wales.

The report shows the numbers of social workers working in local authorities in Adults’ Services, Children's Services and other areas. It also looks at the trends of the workforce over time, staff turnover and the projected workforce over the next three years.

  • Thriving Places Wales logo

'Thriving Places Wales' launched on 24 April is a new and innovative way of measuring well-being and the conditions which allow people and places to thrive in Wales.

Thriving Places Wales’ is the most comprehensive analysis of how local conditions for well-being vary across Wales. Data is shown at a local authority level and is assessed against three main dimensions - local conditions, sustainability and equality. The data is supported by over 50 separate measures covering areas such as health, education and work.

  • PAM GuidanceWe have recently published the 2018-19 Public Accountability Measures (PAMs) guidance.

This dataset has been developed by the Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA) led Task and Finish group, in consultation with local authorities, and seeks to provide a clear and simple overview of local government performance.

The guidance includes detailed definitions for each measure, including comprehensive guidance for those measures we will collect directly from local authorities. We have also included information about how each of the PAMs may help local authorities demonstrate how they are contributing to the seven well-being goals.

Enquiries relating to the PAMs or the guidance should be sent to pienquiries@data.cymru

We are pleased to have supported the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) in developing its new online Data Hub. Its launch marks an important first step in bringing together evidence about the sector in Wales in a single, dynamic resource. The Hub was launched at the WCVA’s gofod3 event on 8 March. The Data Hub, which is unique to the UK, puts the third sector under the microscope, revealing heroic efforts of charities, social enterprises and other bodies to deliver significant benefits, often to the most vulnerable. We look forward to continuing to work with WCVA to develop the Hub further.

To access the Hub please visit the WCVAs website.

  • Save the children report

We have been working with Save the Children on research to understand how many children in Wales live in poverty with no access to Flying Start.

Their report, “Little pieces. Big Picture”, presents headline figures from our analysis of WIMD low income data which highlights where children might benefit from having access to Flying Start provision.

Our work involved bringing together relevant data and presenting it through analysis, interactive mapping and reporting. We offer a range of services to our customers, if you think we can support you, or if you want to discuss how we can help you with your work, please get in touch.
